Computerworld - DoubleSight
Selected for Cool Stuff of 2004
For those who want a big, flat-panel
LCD monitor but don't like the price, DoubleSight has
an interesting answer. It takes two 15-in. LCD panels
and mounts them in a single housing, giving a total
viewing area of 2,048 by 768 pixels. Of course, there's
a black bar running down the middle of that picture,
so it may not be quite as helpful as you need. But for
those who have to display a lot of information or have
to deal with numerous tool bars, menus and windows,
this could be just the ticket.

If you often work on big PowerPoint
presentations, wide spreadsheets or other financial applications,
and are tired of having to scroll sideways, take a look
at DoubleSight’s DS-1500. This pair of 15-inch flat-panel
monitors mounted side by side on the same stand lets you
look at two entirely different applications at the same
time, view two different files in the same application,
or get a really wide view of a single file spread across
both monitors. |

DS-1500 Review
At $799, the DoubleSight is competitive
among 15-inch LCD monitors (remember, you are buying two).
The added benefit of a single
chassis and a single menu makes the DoubleSight
a great value. If you’re interested in dual-monitor
computing, the DoubleSight is definitely a sight to behold
twice. |

Computers New- Speaking
of Split Screen
One of the neatest display
features on the market is seeing a single image or two
associated images spread across two monitors. A little
startup company called DoubleSight (www.doublesight.com)
has combined two 15-inch LCD monitors (flat monitors)
in one unit for a list price of $799. That's about the
same as purchasing two separate high-quality 15-inch flat-screen
monitors, but more handy.

Knight Ridder/Tribune - Move
up to double wide
Company offers two side-by-side,
15-inch flat screens for cheaper but still large LCD monitor
The CRT is dead. Long live
the flat panel display. OK, so you can still buy those
clunky tube screens; but LCD screens are better in every
way except when it comes to their price tag. But one company
has come up with a clever way to beat the high cost of
the 20-plus-inch flat screens by using two smaller screens
to make one big one.

DOUBLESIGHT DS-1500 DUAL
LCD MONITOR -- $799, DoubleSight. One company has come
up with a clever way to beat the high cost of the 20-plus-inch
flat screens by using two smaller screens to make one
big one. DoubleSight has just launched its dual 15-inch
LCD monitor, and it's a lot more than the sum of its parts.
This is one great-looking monitor. The DS-1500 packs in
1.57 megapixels and uses the company's "Smart Control"
technology. This gives you the option of being able to
display a single image that spans across both screens,
or display two different images at the same time. |

does a double take with fused screens
Talk about wide screen. DoubleSight,
a California start-up computer company with eight employees,
has introduced a specialised monitor that fuses two 15-inch
LCD screens into one 24-inch-wide display. Compared with
two separate monitors, this device takes up less desk
space, generates less heat and provides perfectly aligned
viewing, though it has an annoying half-inch strip in
the middle to cover the two screens' shared edge. |
